Remember The Times Of Your Life

Times of Your Life

By: Paul Anka

Good morning, yesterday
You wake up and time has slipped away
And suddenly it's hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember, do you remember?

The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yesteryears
The good times and the bad you've seen
And all the others in between
Remember, do you remember
The times of your life? (do you remember?)

Reach out for the joy and the sorrow
Put them away in your mind
The mem'ries are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow

Here comes the saddest part (comes the saddest part)
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Of your life
Of your life
Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

FADE

Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

Peace and solitude---I hear Roger in the shower, the dachsies are sleeping and I am sitting at the computer sans coffee and meds. Period. The apartment has returned to its normal peaceful state. The windows are all open and there is nothing on my agenda but work, Reba and Dancing With The Stars. I treasure days like this. It is cloudy with a gentle breeze blowing. Life is very good.

I can remember a time in my life during my first marriage when the kids were little. I would leave work, pick up the kids at daycare and rush home because I knew my father would be sitting on my front porch and his first words would be, "When's supper going to be ready?" I got the kids situated and cooked supper as fast as I could so I could be free of demands and have a little time to myself before the cycle began again at sunnup the next day. I had a husband at the time who put the P in Procrastinator when it came to chopping wood for our woodburner-our only source of heat, when it came to mowing grass and basically when it came to anything outside of lifting cold ones and watching sports. Reba McEntire came out with the song "Is There Life Out There?" and I truly wondered if there was.

1993 was my awakening. Thank God I listened to a very wise instructor who taught my last class of my Bachelors Degree program who ended our class with these words: If you're not happy, find out why and do something about it. Within the month I had my BSEd in Educational Training and Development and my divorce.

I have climbed out of the very pits of hell into a wonderful life. Yes, I have cancer and fibro and spastic dystonia and chronic fatigue syndrome but I also have peace, solitude and the love of a man who says I am his world.

I am a fortunate woman indeed.

This post wrote itself this morning. I listened to my heart and the words typed themselves.

My greatest wish for each of you is to be happy and have peace. If you don't have these, find out why and do something about it. Life is beautiful Don't shortchange yourself a moment of it.

Ness, I could have written this post myself. Actually, I couldn't have written it as beautifully as you did, but I understand the sentiment behind it. I feel the same way. Four years ago - I felt like my life fell apart. But when I picked myself up from the self-imposted pity-party, I realized that all the unnecessary stuff in my life feel away. I was left with what mattered. I, too, have found peace.

This post made me smile today and remember all that I have. Thank you.

Ness,

You are beautiful and you deserve the wonderful life which you have fought so hard to achieve. Sometimes I think that the adversity is what makes the sweetness so much sweeter.

Hugs,
Debbie
