Would You Believe It's Magic?

We've gone from this:

To this:

You are looking at 360 8-1/2 squares of material and quilt batting courtesy of a rotary cutter, a mat and Neil Diamond/Simon and Garfunkle/KennyG providing mood music.

And wait...there's more:

Those 360 squares have been reduced to 120 of the sweetest quilt "sandwiches" you'd ever want to lay eyes on. I missed my calling at Wendy's...I was slappin' those material-batting-material sandwiches together at warp speed like nobody's business!

So, almost done, huh?

Not.A.Chance

"Hello, my name is Ness and I an the consummate overachieving quilt-a-holic."

Altogether now, "Hi Ness. You're one sick ticket!"

Amen and Amen.

Every other quilt sandwich will have an appliqued butterfly on it, thus providing the quilting for the square as I will be sewing through all 3 layers of the "sandwich" as I applique' the butterfly on that I cut out from material and Heat Bonded to the quilt sandwich.

Still with me? Good.

The sandwiches that do not have appliqued butterflies with have an embroidered word characteristic of Kiereney....faith, love, laughter, joy, hope, etc. for a total of 40 words and 40 butterflies.

And those doing the Math(I haven't had coffee yet, spare me)will note that 40 + 40 is 80 and there are still 40 squares to be accounted for....those squares will have an embroidered Celtic symbol in each square as Kiereney is of Irish heritage.

After all these sandwiches have their tattoos, I will sew them together, the top seams by machine and the bottom seams(back side of quilt) by hand.

I haven't decided on what to do for the border yet. I can only handle so much creativity at one time.

And when it's done I'm having it insured by Lloyds of London, blessed by the Pope and handing it over to the child for better or worse and it had better be for better!

Unless Michael gets married or one of my blogger friends has a baby, we will be saying so long, farewell, and goodbye to quilting.

Now I need coffee!

Have a superb Super Bowl Sunday.

May your team of choice win, the food be plentiful, the commercials hilarious and may no major wardrobe malfunctions occur.

Goodbye to quilting? Are you mad woman? I had already planned on you whipping CJ up a quilt one of these days. Or me for the next time I have to have a hose up my butt! (hugging one of your quilts would have helped you know!)

Plus my b-day is in less than 2 weeks - I just ASSUMED you were almost done my quilt!! Jeesh...

Y'all are Giants fans? Throw something at your Hubby and say BAD HUBBY!! But also tell him when the Patriots rule the world (which they will) I MIGHT consider still liking him. At least I'll consider it!!

You still have time Ness to jump over to the Pats boat. We welcome all traitors!!

Oh that material is just beautiful, and I'm sure the finished product will be too. You lost me right around the applique' and embroidery...are you hand-embroidering it (is embroidering a word??)? You may actually be my hero (or my heroine, as the case may be). How do you stop the top seams from coming through the whole thing and making bottom seams at the same time? I'm so quilt illiterate, it's not even funny. I can't wait to see the finished product, my friend!

My grandmother was a quilter, and we all have cherished blankies that were hand made when we were all first born. My little guy has the last quilt made before my grandmother passed away, so he has never set hands on it (it hangs on my wall in the computer room). Quilt on!

Nice work! I gave up quilting in the middle of quilt and never when back. I have quilts for two twin beds which I am thinking about taking apart and making into a queen size quilt. That ought to finish me for quilting for another 10 years! You do inpire me though.

Ness,

I think that it is wonderful that you are making quilts for your girls. My favorite blanket is a quilt that my grandmother made for me. It always makes me feel warm on the inside and out.

Hi Nessie!

Just stopping by quickly before I try to go to sleep(I know that you understand being a fibro sufferer yourself!) Thank you for the beautiful message you left me. I PROMISE that you will get an autographed copy, as you, my friend, are such a inspiration.

I added you to my "favorite places to visit" as you are one of my favorite places to visit! Thanks for being the caring soul you are.

Hugs,
Deb
