Baby, It's COLD Outside!

(left to right) Kiereney, Grandpa, Michael, Dad, Grandma and Kelli at Michael's going away weiner roast 10/25/08

Katie and I had a slumber party last night and at 5 a.m. with wind chill factored in, it was MINUS 14 degrees! Haven't seen those types of temps in Southern Illinois in a long time. Now, where is my snow?!?!?

In other happenings around the compound, Grandpa was sent back to the nursing home yesterday because "there is nothing else they can do for him"--gospel according to Grandma. Kelli wanted to spend time with Grandpa, so I took her home about 1600 yesterday, went and visited with Grandpa and was back home by 2200. The winds were gusting about 40 mph and the truck and I got down and boogied several times on the interstate on the way home. Roger stayed home and kept the home fires burning(aka taking care of Katie). Kelli usually pulls midnight shift with Katie but in her absence I took it last night. Roger relieved me at 0600 and I grabbed a 2 hour nap. My schedule is so screwed up without my meds and now I'm in a fibro flare, a Prozac withdrawal and T minus a week without my thyroid meds. Slowly but surely I'm buying the meds but it will take a while to overcome the deficit of being without. That which does not kill us surely makes us stronger.

Kelli is home until Sunday. Her Uncle Richard is coming in from KY on Sunday and meeting with her dad and Grandma to make decisions about Grandpa. Grandpa and I had a good visit last night and hashed over old times. He is a true sweetheart...always looking out for everyone else and it is never about him.

There are a lot of unanswered questions about Grandpa's sudden decline and Kelli and Kiereney will be at the nursing home today on a quest to get to the bottom of it and to help with Grandpa's care. The girls are taking it very hard as Grandpa is a very important man in their lives. I talked with Michael last night and he knows what is going on with his grandpa and is dealing with it. Grandpa was his inspiration to go into the military.

Katie has been fed and is down for a nap so I'm going to join her.

Hi Ness,

I am so sorry that things are so tough for you, lately. I totally understand how you feel about your sweet Katie, as my dear pets are my babies, too. Unfortunately, we found out yesterday that our 15 year old kitty, Harley, has intestinal lymphoma. We are doing everything we can to keep him going because we just aren't ready to give him up. It hurts so much, doesn't it? We are giving him IV's of fluids, and feeding him baby food with our fingers. The vet is going try treating him but he is really sick. I just pray that we can get him to rally and get the cancer to slow down.

I am sorry about Grandpa. I hope that you can find out what's going on with him. Such a difficult situation.

I am going to shoot you an email, so keep your eye out for it.

Big hugs,
Deb

Opps, I just realized that you don't have your email address listed here. I know I have it someplace, but if you could resend it to me, I would appreciate it.

Hugs,
Deb
