The start of my FAVORITE season(Fall) is fast approaching! I started Fall housecleaning on Saturday...perhaps that is why I've been down in my back since then! We have had a sampling of Fall weather the last few days and I'm lovin' it!
In old news...
For those of you who read Facebook, Friday was a horrific day for us. Carter, one of Kathy's great nephews that are a major part of our lives, was taken by his father and he refused to give him back to his mother. Kathy still has legal guardianship over Carter and Cade so we kept Cade and 2 mo old Chase Friday while Kathy traveled up to the local police department to have them go and get Carter which they refused to do, even with the original court order signed by the judge that she had legal guardianship in her hand. On Saturday the stepgrandma went to the father's house and he turned Carter right over to her. On Sunday Abbey and the 3 boys left to start a new life in Northern Illinois where they will be staying with Abbey's father, wife and stepsister. Abbey will be finishing her LPN/RN degree and on to a new life being able to support her boys.
Roger and I stopped at a restaurant in Highland we saw advertised on the interstate while on our way home from Buffalo last month. It advertised foot high pies. Being pie lovers anyway, we had lunch there. The food was wonderful...felt like you were at your grandma's eating her home cooking. But the pies....they had chocolate, banana, coconut, and lemon all with meringue and then some fruit pies. Below is a piece of my lemon pie followed by a whole pie sitting out on the counter. Foot high indeed!!!
A couple of weeks ago Roger and I went to Highland, IL to the annual German fest at the Catholic Church called Kirchenfest. We got there early so Roger could enjoy what is called the Kirchenfest Skillet. They have 2-500 pound skillets and they cook a combo of eggs, potatoes, onions, sausage and God only knows what else. In other words, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Pictures are always worth a million words:
They had a wonderful flea market and we enjoyed looking through it. It will definitely be on our calendar to go back to next year.
Time to rest. I get my CPAP on September 9 and that is really going to be an adjustment for me. I need to get everything else in my mind and body settled so I can use all my spoons to go kicking and screaming into the world of CPAP. They say once I get used to it I will love it and it will be my new best friend. Kathy, I wouldn't worry about that too much...you'll always be my BFF.
Have a wonderful September 1 with no regrets tonight on how you spent your hours alloted to you.

Oh that pie looks good. I too, love pie!! Glad y'all got to enjoy that.
I promise your CPAP will be your very best nightime buddy. I am EXTREMELY claustrophobic and have to wear the full mask. It took only 1 night of good sleep and I was in love. I can not even nap without it now. I actually don't even nap. You will love it Ness, I promise. Don't kick and scream, just enjoy it. Do you know what your setting will be? I am on 12 and David is on 16.
I think of you daily Ness. I pray also for you and your family daily. I care a lot.
Keep in touch.
God Bless~
