The First Cut Is The Deepest

Having a stare-down with the bag of material for Kiereney's quilt. Spent yesterday afternoon at the library(the same library that I spent many of my Saturdays doing research for an endless number of high school papers---color me old) pouring over quilting books and finally discovering that I can do this quilt top, batting and backing one square at a time and when all the squares are completely done, then join the squares together and I'm completely done. But, man, making that first cut into that pristine, pure, virgin material...gotta work up to that...maybe after Michael and Kiereney leave Sat. morning. Cutting material for a quilt is definitely not a spectator sport in my book. But I will keep the digital at hand and document this quilt.

In other news, Iowa is over and on to New Hampshire. My living room seemed like Presidential Central last night with son on phone with Daughter #1, Daughter #2 and my DH discussing their points where they could be heard in a basement at the North Pole and the TV convulsing from CNN to MSNBC. I just sat here with my laptop flanked by dachshunds saying, "This, too, shall pass."

The children are leaving in the morning and DH and I are reclaiming our space and doing dueling recliners as we read our collective library books. DH seems to be feeling better although he got hit upside the head with an altered work project plan yesterday and he will either be living at the office or finally retiring.

Remember that yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a present and that's why they call it a gift. Enjoy your gift of today.

Hiya Ness - can't wait to see pics of the quilt. My grandmother was a life long quilter and we all have examples of her craft. Also, enjoy your again-empty nest. My other grandmother always used to say "I love to see you coming and I love to see you go!" concerning family visits. Have a great day!

Sounds like you had a politically active house last night!!

I can't believe I misses your call. I will tell you that my family is a family of call screeners - if they don't recognize the number and the person doesn't start talking into the answer machine, they won't answer. Actually, Connor won't answer a phone unless his life depends on it. (He gets that from John - neither are very chatty) CJ and I on the other hand could talk your ear off!!

Now I'll know to be on the look out for your area code!!

I've saved yo a seat right next to me on the MOM SAD BUS. It's not a fun place to be but I suspect with enough alcohol, it could get better!!

Give your son a hug for me and tell him that I will ALSO ground him if he plays with a knife that size. Actually, I think I will try to ground CJ when I talk to him later. I'll let you know how that works out.

Kimmy and I will definitely toast you tonight. We talk all the time how glad we are to have you around! :-)
