I've Been Trumped

So, we all remember Ness's last post about how she was sick with a sinusy thing.

Fast forward(or I guess at this time of day rewind) to this morning at 0500. Ness gets up to greet the day(aka taking the dachsies out and getting the coffee started) only to hear that her dear darling husband can't walk without pain. Upon further inspection, his leg is swollen and red from his knee to his foot! Come to find out, he hasn't slept all night because of the pain.

BUT DID HE BOTHER TO WAKE ME UP AND INFORM ME OF THIS?

That would be no!

So it looked like either a bad case of cellulitis(but I couldn't find an injury on his leg for it to stem from) or a blood clot. Called the Dr. and basically said, "I don't care how busy or full you are, this is important and you will see him this morning." I'm sure I was much nicer than that but I don't play when it comes to my husband's health and these unscheduled ailments. Like, I was sick first. Did he NOT consult the calendar that said this was MY day to be sick?

So they told us to come on down and 30 minutes later he is diagnosed with GOUT. Where did THIS come from? But hey, he had textbook blood pressure at 120/80 which is a first for him, so it was a Kodak moment.

He has to have blood tests done tomorrow(he had an apt. on the 20th, but could he wait? Nooo...he has to come up and trump me with a reddened, swollen leg. So they gave us a script for Colchicine and off we boogied in the nasty, pouring, gray(did I mention yukky to the nth degree) day only to arrive at Walgreens and it would be 45 minutes before they could fill it and I should come back. At that moment, if I knew which Walgreens Catty Ax worked at I would have snatched my prescription back and drove over to her Walgreens cause I know she would not want me to wait 45 minutes since I'm sinusy and all....

(And, dear husband, when you read this, and you will, this is all tongue-in-cheek and do not become offended because I have an attitude and I know how to use it! You can be sick any time you want even if I'm already sick and cancelled my PT appointment because I felt so out-of-worldly...)

So there you have my Monday. He is in the recliner cosleeping with the dachsies and I am working.

Women are tougher than men! Say it loud and say it proud!

It takes longer to drive to Walgreens from the apartment than to go through the back yard, through someone else's yard and down a street a block or two. Think if I put my ATM card in a Baggie and tied it around Shania's neck with a note to pick up Roger's prescription that they would do it? Even if I told them in the note I was all sinus-y and sick?

Not.a.chance.

Watching the premiere of Dancing with the Stars tonight and then I will have to flip tomorrow night between DWTS and AI.

I hope I don't catch gout from him...(and no, it's not catchable)

Have a fantastic Monday wherever you be.

Waht exactly is gout? I guess I really don't know....

Can't believe you BOTH are ill. Do I need to come take care of y'all? Cuz I'd do it you know.

Will check in on you later. Feel free to update and let us know that you are both still alive and kicking! (well, he's probably not kicking, what with the gout in his leg!)

Hallie :)

Oh Nessie,

I do wish that I could send you some chicken soup, dear heart! It is no fun when you are both sick! Call one of your children and tell them that it is time to take care of their ailing 'ol parents! I wish that there was someone who could take care of you, too!

Please know that I am keeping you close in my thoughts and prayers. Even though I am far away in miles, I am close by in my heart. Enjoy Dancing With the Stars! I enjoy that show, too.

Love,
Debbie
