Red and Yellow and Pink and Green, Purple and Orange and Blue

I love rainbows!

So many songs I love have the word rainbow in them:

Kermit the Frog singing "Rainbow Connection"

Andy Williams in "Moon River" singing, "Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

The classic "Over the Rainbow" although I like the newer version sang on American Idol the other night.

And to see a rainbow in the sky just stops.me.in.my.tracks.

Who but God could take 7 different colors and combine them into one phenomenal beautiful sight?

God promised through the rainbow there would be no more floods like the ones Noah went through.

So I look to rainbows as a comforting thing.

Last night I watched Idol Gives Back.

I saw more rainbows.

The rainbow of children both in our country and across the world who are struggling just with activities of daily living---food, clothing, and love.

The rainbow of all walks of the entertainment world who came together for one single purpose...to raise money to help these kids have what we so often take for granted. One boy was 15 and raising his 3 brothers because his parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents had died of AIDS. Thank God none of the 4 boys tested positive.

I sat there for 2.5 hours and watched these rainbows form before my eyes.

I hope Idol Gives Back raised rainbow-high money for these causes last night.

And Idol Gave Back to me as well.

It reminded me how very fortunate I am to have what I have and to never take it for granted, and it back up one of my philosophies that a little child shall lead them.

2.5 hours well spent.

Find your rainbow today and bask in it--the smile of a child, the warmth of the sun, or the sense that you're alive.

Oh, I needed this today, Ness. I work for one of those places that takes care of abused, abandoned, neglected children. And there are times it gets frustrating. But then I have people like you remind me that there is so much good in the world and so many people willing to help.

I love rainbows, too!

Really beautiful post, Ness. I too watched Idol last night, and was saddened by the site I saw. What bothers me is we throw away so much, food, etc, that could help so many starving children. It just blows my mind.
You have quite a nice way of putting thengs, a very eligant writter you are.
Thanks for this eye opening blog.

Love,

Debbie :o)

Hey ness...
Thanks for visiting my blog so frequently. I assure you that therapy for frozen shoulder (s-u-c-k-s). Somehow I thought if I spelled it out, it would be like whispering it! the shoulder joint has many, many nerve endings, and it is probably the most painful joint to rehab! I wish you were closer too. Ask if you can take something like Ibuprofen or Advil or whichever is an antiinflammatory before you go. Sometimes that just takes the edge off. I usually don't recommend full out pain meds before PT, because we need to have an accurate gauge of where to stop. SOunds like your PT needs hers very accurate, huh?! Good luck with it! Malanie
