An Angel Named Andrew

I asked Kelli for the name of the nurse who took such good care of Kiereney today. She said his name was Andrew.

I called the hospital's ER and asked to speak to Andrew.

When he got on the phone and said, "This is Andrew," his voice sounded like an angel.

I told him who I was and thanked him for the excellent care he gave my daughter this afternoon, how things seemed to be at an impasse until he came on at 3:30, assessed the situation and started her IV with morphine that got the pain under control and her blood pressure down from 160/120(Kelli failed to tell me at the time how high her blood pressure was).

He said, "Wow, I have never had anyone call me before to thank me for doing my job. It means a lot to me that you called."

No, Andrew, it meant a lot to Kelli and to me that you were doing your job. Especially when Kelli told me about the incompetency that happened when they gave Kiereney the Imitrex before you came on duty.

We are the fortunate ones, Andrew.

You'll never know how much you doing your job and taking care of my daughter meant to me.

Kiereney said it best when I called to check on her while ago and she said, "Mommy, thank you for calling Andrew. I think he was an angel."

Me, too, Kiereney Jo.

Me, too.

This video pretty well sums up my heart tonight.

Glad she's doing better. I've suffered from migraines for years and, unfortunately, my five year old gets them too. Phernergan does wonders for mine lately. I used to be a solid Maxxalt girl, but now if phenergan can put me to sleep, I'm usually better when I wake up. I hope your daughter has the same success!

Thank goodness for angels like Andrew!

Oh Ness, I am sorry that Kiereney has been suffereing so with migraines. I have had them from time to time and they are no fun. That BP would have scared the heck out of me! Will she get further treatment to keep her BP from going that high again?

It is so rare to have anyone ever acknowledge when a job is well done, there is little hesitation to make it known when something is not correct. That was such a Ness gesture and I know you made his day... and you know there are such angels out there. I am so glad something has helped and hopefully they can find a way to prevent the migrains from coming back or at least from becoming so severe.
HUGS to you and a prayer too!

I, too, am glad to hear that things are better with Kiereney now. It's too bad it took so long to get someone in who figured it out, but at least someone finally did! So cool that you acknowledged Andrew; I'll bet you made his day!

I've been thinking of you all and praying that Kiereney is feeling better. As a 20 year migraine sufferer, one that has been hospitalized for just this reason, my heartbreaks thinking about her pain. I am so happy her brother and sister could be there for her. I'm sure it was so hard on you and Roger to stay put.

Please know that we are all continuing to bombard your family with good thoughts and healing prayers.
