Friday Update

Hallie here from Wiener World.

Ness has asked me to fill in for her (for the forseeable future) and update her blog with info as available.

Kiereney is having a hell of a time. As is the entire Ness family.

KJ is still inpatient and is still in excruciating pain. And is losing faith. From what Ness says, KJ is frustrated and scared and a little paranoid (who wouldn't be in that situation). The plan has been to get her into surgery to place a shunt in order to allow her excess spinal fluid to drain. Unfortunately, that has not yet happened and will not happen until they locate and treat the source of her unknown infection.

KJ's white count has been sky high which means infection...somewhere. She has also been spiking a temp although it seems to have come down a bit in the last 24 hours. I know loads of testing has been done in an attempt to find the source but so far no luck.

Because they are unable to move forward with the shunt surgery right now, her head pain, from the increased spinal fluid, is horrendous. They will, today, perform yet another (maybe #5?) spinal tap to drain as much excess fluid as possible. Doing so, will hopefully alleviate the intense discomfort she is having in her head.

On top of all of this...

Kiereney is dealing with a severely injured ankle (possibly torn tendons) that occurred when she collapsed at her doc's office several days ago. Her ankle looks terrible (I've seen pics) and is just one more thing they have to worry about.

AND she also collapsed 2 nights ago in her hospital room and landed flat on her face. A CT scan with contrast was ordered ASAP and thankfully (really, thank you God) showed nothing.

And her vision continues to worsen. She had lost her peripheral vision but is now losing TOTAL VISION for brief periods. I can not imagine how terrifying that is for anyone, let alone a person her age.

Needless to say, our dear friend Ness, is devastated. And exhausted. And worried. She is a momma bear fighting to get relief for her daughter. Actually, the whole family is pitching in where possible. I know Roger has MORE than willingly done everything he can to assist during this very worrisome time.

Please focus all your prayers on Ness and her family and to finding and fixing what ails KJ.

Prayers are needed now more than ever.

This roller coaster ride is nowhere near over. This family will need all the love and support they can get to help "carry" them through.

Hallie

Hallie, thank you for updating. Ness, Roger, Keireney, Kellie, and Michael: every single one of you is in my prayers. Lord, please help the hospital staff locate and treat the infection that continues to haunt KJ. End the suffering that has plagued her for so long. Lift up the entire family so that they may be closer to You and take comfort in Your presence. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...Amen.
