Happy Birthday Kelli Lynne!

At 9:08 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 1977 I had my first child by Caesarian section because she was sitting up like a little Budah and refused to turn around after a month of laying in the floor with my feet up on cushions so she would flip around(bad idea, Dr. Vinai)

She was 8 pounds even and had a full head of dark hair. One of the nurses told me to buy a blow dryer on the way home from the hospital.

I know you will have a real problem, knowing me as you do, in understanding that I sat my alarm the first night home for 1:45 a.m., got up, warmed the bottle, went to get Kelli Lynne at 2 a.m. and she was ASLEEP! I called the hospital nearly in tears because it was 2 a.m. and ALL babies were supposed to wake up for a 2 a.m. bottle and mine wasn't doing it. The nurse in OB who answered the phone was worthy of an Oscar because she did not once snicker or laugh but instead told me she would wake up when she was hungry and to put the bottle back in the fridge and go back to bed.

Kelli woke up about 6.

And she slept through the night from the time she got home from the hospital.

As a child, she played piano and played the childrens masses for the Catholic school she attended. She had a beautiful voice and won competitions in school. She loved playing summer softball and had the cleanest first base in the league(much to Mom's dismay when I would watch her take the field and dust off the base before the inning started and any time during the inning when some player had the nerve to get dirt on it). I also saw the side of her temper when her dad was plate umping her tournament game and with 2 outs in the bottom of the inning had to call her out on strikes and they lost the game. She simply glared at him and walked off to the car and skipped her after the game treat at the concession stand. I don't think her dad ever lived that one down although he made the right call.

Kelli is the quiet one of my three. Probably the worst thing she ever did was not turning her homework in one year during grade school because she didn't want to look smart or compliant and the day I found her backpack STUFFED with pink notes from the teacher was a day indeed! The second worst thing was rolling her eyes at me. I was naive enough to think that a teen who rolled her eyes at me was just being horribly defiant

Her sibs showed me what horribly defiant really meant...

She lives in a world of music, politics, baseball, candles, dogs and reading. She is an LPN and a whiz on the computer doing medical billing, etc.

She never ages. To me, she looks the same now as her high school graduation picture--beautiful long dark hair and big brown eyes.

Happy Birthday, Kelli Lynne. May you find your Rainbow Connection.

Happy Birthday, Kelli! I know how special you are to your mom and family. May the coming year bring lots of health, love and joy. You are still young enough to do anything you put your mind to. Enjoy the journey, but choose the path wisely. Life is not a dress rehearsal. You have so much potential to share with the world!

Hugs,
Debbie

Happy Birthday to Kelli! Love her middle name and how it is spelled LYNNE just like mine!
Those first born with all that hair-brings make memories! except for Taylor didn't sleep thru the night-that would have freaked me out too. My second, carley actually did the same thing but I was ok since I had the mom "experience".

I hope Kelli had the best of
b-days as well as a great year to come.
