Even though we live in Illinois, Hurricane Sandy has majorly affected our lives.

1Lt. Michael Timothy Dwyer is the Commander of 50 National Guard troops in Norfolk, VA activated Saturday afternoon.  As a mother, I am so proud of him to be chosen to do this, yet a mother's heart worries.

He called briefly last night to say he hadn't slept since he got up Saturday morning.  He is busy coordinating soldiers to get them to areas where they are needed.  The worst days are supposed to be Monday and Tuesday.  Michael said of all the hurricanes we experienced living in Virginia, this is, by far, the worst.  Along the coast, there are upwards of 7500 soldiers.  He looks to receive up to 500 more at his post in Norfolk, VA.

Please keep all involved in Hurricane Sandy in your thoughts and prayers.
